A certain point in time, in the continent of Telesis. The great war which divided the continent into North and South has ended after four years, and the people are welcoming a new generation. Violet Evergarden, a young girl formerly known as “the weapon”, has left the battlefield to start a new life at CH Postal Service. There, she is deeply moved by the work of “Auto Memories Dolls”, who carry people’s thoughts and convert them into words. Violet begins her journey as an Auto Memories Doll, and comes face to face with various people’s emotions and differing shapes of love. There are words Violet heard on the battlefield, which she cannot forget. These words were given to her by someone she holds dear, more than anyone else. She does not yet know their meaning but she searches to find it.

Ever since I saw the first PV of Violet Evergarden, I knew I had to watch this when it comes out. Just look at it!

And the rest of the PVs look just as amazing!

And do you want to know something amazing? The latest PV had different versions for the music. The first and original version had a Japanese singer singing the theme song Violet Snow in English. Two weeks later four alternate versions of the same trailer came out, all of them the same except each had a different singer singing in a different language. The four other versions are in English, French, Chinese, and Korean. I mean, see it for yourself:

I never seen any anime that received this type of promotion. In my opinion, Kyoto Animation (the studio that’s adapting it) didn’t have to go this far, but they did. And I was amazed by this.

Violet Evergarden has the potential to be anime of the season for Winter 2018, and if the story is as great as it’s premise sounds, then it could have potential to be anime of the year. I just hope that the animation is not the only thing that will stand out, as I want the story to be good as well.
